Pizza delivery driver allegedly threatens woman with pizza cutter after traffic altercation

DOWNERS GROVE – A delivery driver for a Downers Grove pizzeria allegedly threatened to kill a woman following a traffic altercation, according to a Downers Grove Police Department report.

The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. Feb. 3 near Ogden Avenue and Washington Street in Westmont when a delivery driver for Cassano's Pizzeria, 2021 Ogden Ave., reportedly ran a red light while making a left turn, nearly striking the woman's car, the report stated.
As the woman continued to drive west on Ogden Avenue into Downers Grove, the delivery driver allegedly swerved his car toward hers and threw cigarette butts at the vehicle, according to the report.
The woman followed the driver to the pizzeria to confront him. At the restaurant, he allegedly began yelling and cursing at her and picked up a pizza cutter and yelled, “I’ll [expletive] kill you," police said.
Another employee intervened to prevent him from getting closer to the woman and her husband, who left and reported the incident to police, the report stated.
The delivery driver later told police the woman cut him off in traffic and followed his car while yelling at him. He admitted to holding the pizza cutter but denied making threats, according to the report.
Cassano’s management told police they were aware of the incident, and the driver was no longer employed by the pizzeria, police said.
No complaints were signed.
