LT to host first LyonCon

WESTERN SPRINGS – Lyons Township High School is hosting its first LyonCon, a Comic-Con/gaming-style event, featuring tournament gaming, open tabletop gaming, video games, cosplay contests, photo ops, vendors and more.

Scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 3 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Corral, 4940 S. Willow Springs Road, Western Springs, the event is open to the public. Admission is free for those who dress in costume. Corral members also get in free.

Admission for students and children younger than 18 is $5 per person, and adult admission is $10. The event is family- and kid-friendly until 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and all day Feb. 4. After 5 p.m. Feb. 3, there will be some PG-13 content.

The event is a partnership between LTTV, Corral Board, Board Game Club, Anime/SciFi Club, and Tech Club.

Panels begin at 9:30 a.m. and run all day. Guests include Rebel Force Radio, 501st Legion, World Building for Writers with Jeffrey Dohm, The Stupid-Weird-Amazing History of Comics with Dani Romero, Caffeinated Comics LIVECAST with Steven Brown and Jon Clarke, J-Fashion Event with Elise Forer and Adventurers League. There also will be a panel on LARP costuming and a live demonstration on painting miniatures.

LyonCon will feature open gaming (role-playing games, board games and card games), Adventurers League tables, video games, video game tournaments, a costume contest, and anime, sci-fi and fantasy films.
