Quigley concluded the awards ceremony with one last award: the A.J. "Toche" Terrones Business of the Year award, which went to Brewpoint Coffee. He praised the business strategy of owners Melissa Villanueva and Angelo Sepulveda, a wife and husband team. Villanueva left a job in "corporate America" to start the business, which recently opened a new location.
"What a leap of faith. But it's literally the American dream," Quigley said.
Villanueva said receiving the award was "absolutely mind-blowing" and then told the story of how Brewpoint Coffee began with a search for an espresso machine on Craigslist.
"What type of people buy a coffee shop on Craigslist when they're not even looking to own a coffee shop?" she quipped.
She thanked their families and staff, as well as the city of Elmhurst, chamber and community in her acceptance speech.
"It has been very humbling to be embraced by you all," Sepulveda said.
