Police Reports: Elmhurst for Feb. 2

Information in Police Reports is obtained from the Elmhurst Police Department. Individuals in Police Reports who have been charged with a crime have not been proved guilty in court.

Aggravated vehicular hijacking

A Cadillac Escalade reportedly was hijacked at 1:45 p.m. Jan. 22 in the 100 block of South Prospect Avenue. It was later found, unoccupied, in Chicago.

Attempted burglary

An attempted residential burglary reportedly occurred at 6:33 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 300 block of North River Glen Avenue. A screen in a window on the north side of the house reportedly had been lifted, but no entry was gained.

Burglary

• A burglary reportedly occurred between 6:50 and 7:20 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 500 block of West Third Street. A resident reportedly found a man holding a black semi-automatic handgun inside his or her home. The offender fled the scene. An iPhone 6 Plus reportedly was stolen.

• A brown Calvin Klein wallet containing cash, an Illinois driver's license and 10 personal and work credit cards reportedly was stolen between 6 and 6:15 p.m. Jan. 18 from an unlocked Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 300 block of North Elm Avenue.

• A burglary reportedly occurred between 7 p.m. Jan. 20 and 7 a.m. Jan. 21 at Delta Assets, 249 W. Lake St. An unknown offender reportedly cut the fence line and made entry to the two adjoining properties and entered multiple trailers containing miscellaneous tools. It is unknown whether any property had been stolen from the business.

• A burglary reportedly occurred between 10:56 p.m. Jan. 21 and 11:52 a.m. Jan. 22 at Sanford and Sign, 162 W. Grand Ave. Twenty sheets of aluminum and a 10-foot aluminum toolbox reportedly were stolen from the property. A socket set, two iPass transponders, a Wex Truck gas card and a yellow safety vest reportedly were stolen from two vehicles at the same location.

Controlled substance possession

• Annette Zwolinski, 27, of the 100 block of Greenway Drive, Bloomingdale, was charged at 4:40 p.m. Jan. 19 with possession of a controlled substance and retail theft at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. Joshua Bremer, 33, of the 14400 block of Linder Avenue, Midlothian, was charged at the same time and date with felony retail theft and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at the same location.

• Peter J. Gagen, 28, of the zero to 100 block of Meagan Lane, Lemont, was charged at 3:13 a.m. Jan. 20 with possession of a controlled substance at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave.

• Samual R. Shamie, 21, of the 2900 block of Scott Street, Franklin Park, was charged at 8:20 a.m. Jan. 23 with possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, no valid registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at Grand and Old Grand avenues.

• Victor Avalos-Gonzalez, 26, of the 2000 block of Berkshire Circle, Carpentersville, was charged at 11:48 p.m. Jan. 24 with possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road.

• James McDonald, 53, of the 700 block of South Sunnyside Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged at 2:37 p.m. Jan. 23 with felony forgery, identity theft and possession of a controlled substance at Mariano's, 678 N. York Road.

Disorderly conduct

A business reported receiving several threatening phone calls and text messages after placing an ad online at 11:46 a.m. Jan. 22 in the 200 block of West Wrightwood Avenue.

Battery

Torious McCalebb, 22, of the 5700 block of St. Charles Road, Berkeley, was charged at 11:16 p.m. Jan. 16 with domestic battery at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road.

Drug paraphernalia possession

• Ronaldo A. Perez, 19, of the 100 block of South La Londe Avenue, Addison, was cited at 11:06 p.m. Jan. 19 with possession of drug paraphernalia and no rear registration plate light at North Avenue and Willow Street.

• Euran T. Hassan Williams, 39, of the 1800 block of West Hatherleigh Court, Mount Prospect, was charged at 5:34 p.m. Jan. 24 with possession of drug paraphernalia at Interstate 290 and York Road. Jonathan G. Grant, 35, of the 5700 block of Vineyard Lane, Rockford, was charged at the same time and date with no valid driver's license at the same location.

DUI

• Marvin Mendoza-Castillo, 28, of the 500 block of North Highview Avenue, Addison,was charged at 11:16 p.m. Jan. 16 with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, illegal parking in the roadway, failure to dim headlights, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol at Lake and York streets.

• Jamar White, 29, of the 700 block of North Villa Avenue, Villa Park, was charged at 11:32 p.m. Jan. 17 with DUI of alcohol, improper lane use and unlawful use of an electronic communication device at North and Villa avenues.

• Amy M. Ryan, 42, of the 600 block of South Mitchell Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged at 2:17 a.m. Jan. 21 with DUI of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane use and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at Route 83 and St. Charles Road.

• Dionta Terrell Tillis, 25, of the 3700 block of Madison Street, Bellwood, was charged at 4:09 p.m. Jan. 21 with DUI of alcohol, speeding, driving while license suspended and transportation of open alcohol at Butterfield Road and Swain Avenue.

Ehab Allababidi, 21, of the 8500 block of West Winona Street, Chicago, was charged at 11:51 p.m. Jan. 22 with DUI of alcohol, improper lane use and speeding at North and Melrose avenues.

• Jose Morales-Morales, 33, of the 1200 block of North Taft Avenue, Berkeley, was charged at 12:24 a.m. Jan. 24 with DUI of alcohol, improper backing and no insurance at North Avenue and I-290.

• Alfonso Dias, 49, of the 2200 block of North Lamon Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 1:16 a.m. Jan. 24 with DUI of alcohol and no valid driver's license in the 600 block of North York Street.

Identity theft

• An incident of identity theft was reported at 5:47 p.m. Jan. 17 as having occurred at 3 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 700 block of South Parkside Avenue.

• An incident of identity theft was reported at 5:48 p.m. Jan. 17 as having occurred between 12:18 p.m. Dec. 18 and 1:10 a.m. Jan. 10 in the 100 block of East Vallette Street.

• An incident of identity theft was reported at noon Jan. 20 in the 400 block of South Spring Road.

Marijuana possession

Carnell Smith, 24, of the 500 block of Jordan Way, Bolingbrook, was cited at 11:13 p.m. Jan. 20 with unlawful possession of marijuana and disobeying a traffic control device at North and Addison avenues. Thomas Phinizy, 23, of the 8100 block of South Homan Avenue, Chicago, and Christian Norman, 23, of the 14500 block of South Edbrooke Avenue, Riverdale, were cited at the same time and date with unlawful possession of marijuana at the same location.

Suspicious circumstances

• An incident involving suspicious circumstances was reported at 12:41 p.m. Jan. 16 at Lee and Breen, 188 Industrial Drive.

• An incident involving suspicious phone calls was reported at 8 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 900 block of South Cedar Avenue.

• An incident involving suspicious circumstances reportedly occurred between 5:55 and 6:15 p.m. Jan. 18 in the 100 block of North Elm Avenue. A man who reportedly claimed he was with ADT Home Security but did not have ADT insignia or an iPad or clipboard asked the victim if he had a home security system.

• An incident involving suspicious circumstances reportedly occurred between 12:30 and 5:46 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 500 block of Comstock Avenue. A black SUV with Ohio registration reportedly had parked in the complainant's driveway, and its occupants had rung her doorbell and left. The complainant later reportedly saw the vehicle parked down the street.

• An incident involving suspicious circumstances was reported at 10:03 p.m. Jan. 26 in the 100 block of North Geneva Avenue. A noise coming from the back door and the back door being open was reported, but police officers reportedly found no signs of forced entry, pry marks or damage to the door. Nothing was disturbed or missing.

Theft

Cash and 24 packs of Marlboro Light cigarettes reportedly were stolen at 11 p.m. Jan. 20 at Power Mart, 572 W. Lake St.

Traffic violation

• Justin Ramel, 25, of the zero to 100 block of Oak Street, Port Barrington, was charged at 2:38 p.m. Jan. 19 with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid registration at West and Elm Park avenues.

• Derek A. Lopez, 22, of the 200 block of Green Court, Wood Dale, was charged at 11:29 p.m. Jan. 21 with driving while license suspended and speeding at Lake Street and Grand Avenue.

• Esmeralda Rios, 20, of the 100 block of Bonnie Brae Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged at 9:54 a.m. Jan. 24 with no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid driver's license at West Avenue and Utley Road.

• Moises Bello-Cruz, 33, of the 4200 block of South Talman Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 8:31 p.m. Jan. 24 with driving while license suspended at North and Glade avenues.

Trespassing

• Eric Artis, 22, of the 300 block of North Princeton Avenue, Villa Park, was cited at 10:11 a.m. Jan. 17 with trespass to railroad property at Union Pacific Railroad and Highland Avenue.

• Three juveniles were served a no trespass notice at 5:39 p.m. Jan. 19 at Dunkin Donuts, 506 W. North Ave. They reportedly had been throwing candy at employees, using profanity and disturbing other patrons.

Unlawful visitation interference

Emil Amarei, 44, of the 4500 block of North Riverside Drive, Johnsburg, was cited at 7:32 a.m. Jan. 23 with unlawful visitation interference at the Elmhurst Police Department, 125 E. First St.

Warrant arrest

• Anthony Simmons, 32, of the 1900 block of Cobbleston Road, Romeoville, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Jan. 18 on a warrant out of Will County and cited with expired registration at St. Charles Road and Route 83.

• Melissa Ibarra, 22, of the 200 block of North Third Avenue, Marshalltown, Iowa, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Jan. 23 on a warrant out of DuPage County at the Elmhurst Police Department, 125 E. First St.

• Jack Pietrus, 28, of the 5600 block of North Ashland Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 11:25 a.m. Jan. 24 on three unspecified warrants at the Elmhurst Police Department, 125 E. First St.
