"We've been trying to run trail fours and drag screen to keep teams honest," Thomas said. "Those guys [Henderson and Boston] are thumpers that can get there in a heartbeat. With guys like Connor shooting well it means less guys in front of them. That's why we try to space the court so well."
To Ilyavi, the ebbs and flows of a shooter is no secret.
"I think it's just confidence," he said. "I got to get more shots up. I had a lot of shots today. It comes back to guys like Semaj opening things up for me."
With just four seniors, Downers Grove North figures to be a team to watch next year. Ilyavi, though, doesn't see why the Trojans can't make noise now.
Downers Grove North has won three in a row.
"And we have three big sectional opponents coming up," he said. "We're going to be real strong next year. I really think we're starting to come together. We just have to keep working hard in practice."
