BERWYN – Healthy heart sceenings are returning to the Berwyn Public Health District.
The free screenings will take place between 8 a.m. and noon Feb. 7 at the Health District offices, 6600 26th St., Berwyn.
Health District staff and medical volunteers will be taking blood pressures, hemoglobin levels, oximetry and pulse readings, and heights and weights, and calculating body mass indexes, according to a district news release. Blood draws for vitamin D, thyroid and cholesterol levels, as well as a comprehensive metabolic panel, also will be done.
Screenings are limited to Berwyn residents, and appointments are strongly recommended, the release stated. Those interested can call 708-788-6600 to schedule an appointment. Appointments tend to fill up quickly, according to the release.
Fasting for at least eight hours before scheduled appointments is required to obtain accurate results, the release stated. Those screened will need to schedule a return appointment for Feb. 14 to review their results.
