JOLIET – A Romeoville man allegedly tried to evade Joliet police officers during a slow pursuit but eventually was arrested.
In the first minutes of Thursday morning, Joliet officers tried to stop Arron De La Torre Alvarez, 29, of the first block of Beacon Avenue in Romeoville for a moving violation at the intersection Youngs Avenue and Irving Street, police said. Instead of stopping, Alvarez kept on driving his silver Dodge, police said.
A slow speed pursuit ensued but after Alvarez allegedly turned into the parking lot of Sabor International at 725 N. Collins St., he was blocked from leaving, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
Officers ordered Alvarez to get out of the car but he refused, Gregory said. After several such orders were disobeyed, the officers removed Alvarez from his car, Gregory said.
Alvarez was arrested and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, and with resisting a police officer.
Alvarez later was released on his own recognizance.
