Police Reports: Elmhurst for Jan. 19

Aggravated assault

An incident of aggravated assault was reported at 5:48 a.m. Dec. 31 in the 200 block of North Illinois Street.

Attempted aggravated assault

Fernando Saucedo, 24, of the 700 block of North Craig Place, Addison, was charged at 11:19 p.m. Dec. 30 with attempt – aggravated assault in the 100 block of East Schiller Street.

Burglary

• A purse reportedly was stolen between 4:40 and 5:19 p.m. Jan. 2 from the front passenger seat of a vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot at L.A. Fitness, 620 N. York St. The front passenger window reportedly had been broken out, and the victim's credit card was used five times in the Schaumburg and Palatine area.

A burglary was reported at 8:20 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 200 block of North Michigan Street. A rear patio door reportedly was forced open, and a master bedroom and kitchen were ransacked in a residence.

Attempted burglary

• A burglary was reported at 7:52 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 200 block of East Elmhurst Avenue. Pry marks on an attached garage service door were found. It did not appear anything was missing.

A burglary was reported at 8:20 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 200 block of North Larch Avenue. A front door deadbolt reportedly was damaged, and a door was ajar. It did not appear anything was missing.

Controlled substance possession

• Mario Alcon-Mejia, 36, of the 3200 block of West Thomas Street, Melrose Park, was charged at 4:50 p.m. Dec. 29 with possession of a controlled substance, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license revoked and no rear registration light at Belden Avenue and York Street.

• Diego Lopez, 18, of the 1100 block of North Leamington Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 29 with felony possession of a controlled substance, obstructing identification and consumption of alcohol by a minor at North and Clinton avenues. A juvenile was charged at the same time and date with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, illegal transportation of alcohol and consumption of alcohol by a minor at the same location.

Deceptive practice

An incident involving deceptive practice reportedly occurred at 6:20 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 400 block of North Elm Street. The complainant reportedly had listed a refrigerator for sale on Craigslist and received an offer from the suspect, who sent a possibly fraudulent cashier's check, stating the excess funds were to pay for moving company fees. The suspect then requested cash be sent via wire transfer back to him. The complainant refused and incurred no dollar loss.

Dog-at-large

Christopher R. Stanley, 31, of the 400 block of West St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, was cited at 3:19 p.m. Dec. 24 with dog-at-largein the 400 block of West St. Charles Road.

Battery

Gabrielle Soltys, 28, of the 400 block of West St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, was charged at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 30 with domestic battery in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road.

DUI

• Wayne Valdez, 63, of the zero to 100 block of South Michigan Avenue, Villa Park, was charged at 9:56 p.m. Dec. 29 with driving under the influence of alcohol in the 1000 block of South Route 83.

• Matthew Wright, 33, of the 400 block of 70th Street, Darien, was charged at 10:29 p.m. Jan. 1 with DUI of alcohol and improper parking/stopping on the roadway at First Street and West Avenue.

• Shannon L. Brannigan, 41, of the 0N000 block of Elmwood Street, Winfield, was charged at 1:16 a.m. Jan. 3 with DUI of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and improper lane use at Roosevelt Road and Route 83.

Forgery

• A counterfeit $100 bill reportedly was used in an attempt to pay for desserts at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 29 at Oberweis Dairy, 1018 S. York St. The employee reportedly told the suspect the money looked fake, and she would call the police. The suspect left the store, and the employee retained the counterfeit bill and the merchandise.

• A counterfeit $100 bill reportedly was used in an attempt to purchase a Visa gift card at 7:20 p.m. Dec. 29 at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. The employee reportedly told the suspect the money looked fake, and the suspect left the store. The counterfeit bill and the Visa gift card were retained.

Identity theft

• An incident of identity theft was reported at 4:07 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 300 block of East Harrison Street.

• An incident of identity theft was reported at 4:39 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 700 block of South Washington Street.

Lost property

• An Illinois ID card was reported lost at 5 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 100 block of East Lake Street.

• A money pouch was reported lost at 7:58 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 200 block of Chandler Avenue.

Marijuana possession

Kishon Bradley, 20, of the 2000 block of Moreland Avenue, Champaign, was cited at 12:20 a.m. Jan. 1 with unlawful possession of marijuana and illegal transportation of open alcohol at Route 83 and Riverside Drive.

Order of protection

An order of protection short form was served at 1:14 a.m. Jan. 1 at Melrose and North avenues.

Property damage

Ten holes in siding on a house, reportedly appearing to have been caused by an air soft gun, were reported at 2:28 p.m. Dec. 30 in the 200 block of East Schiller Street.

Theft

• Miguel Resendez-Revele, 26, of the 700 block of Lake Park Drive, Addison, was charged at 5:29 p.m. Dec. 13 with felony possession of stolen vehicle and felony retail theft at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. Hugo Justo, 40, was charged at the same time and date with possession of drug paraphernalia at the same location.

Brandon Travelstead, 29, of the 26400 block of West Lotus Avenue, Antioch, was charged at 7:13 p.m. Dec. 30 with felony retail theft at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83.

• An incident of theft by deception was reported at 4:01 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 200 block of Evergreen Avenue. An unknown offender reportedly claimed he was a federal reserve employee and told the victim he was eligible for a grant if he provided iTunes gift cards, which the victim then did.

• An incident of theft by deception was reported at 4:50 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 200 block of Evergreen Avenue. The victim had received a document in the mail informing him he had won the lottery and was eligible to collect cash and asked the victim to mail payments to an address in Missouri, which the victim did.

• Laura Ortiz, 35, of the 200 block of George Street, Bensenville, was charged at 4:28 p.m. Jan. 1 with retail theft at Mariano's, 678 N. York St.

• Javed Noor, 37, of the 3600 block of West 63rd Place, Chicago, and John Konstantinov, 40, of the 8900 block of West Heathwood Circle, Niles, were charged at 3:27 p.m. Jan. 3 with retail theft at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. Julie Korotkov, 42, of the 8900 block of West Heathwood Circle, Niles, was charged at the same time and date with no valid driver's license at the same location.

Traffic violation

• Jessica Oglesby, 23, of the 1200 block of Cypress Lane, Elk Grove Village, was charged at 2:46 a.m. Dec. 27 with illegal transportation of alcohol, no rear registration plate and no valid driver's license at Route 83 and St. Charles Road.

• Katerina Adamczyk, 40, of the 600 block of North Second Avenue, Villa Park, was cited at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 27 with failure to report an accident to police, injuring property and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 300 block of Highland Avenue.

• Lamar Grayson, 27, of the 11400 block of South Champlain Avenue, Chicago, was cited at 9:50 p.m. Dec. 28 with driving while license suspended and driving too fast for conditions at Lake Street and Interstate 290.

• Marcos Pablo-Guzman, 21, of the 7500 block of Elmhurst Road, Des Plaines, was charged at 8:37 a.m. Dec. 29 with driving while license suspended and speeding at Route 83 and Lake Street.

• Eva Gonzalez, 58, of the 300 block of East North Avenue, Northlake, was charged at 4:37 p.m. Dec. 29 with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and no valid driver's license at North Avenue and York Street.

• Dori Sumler, 30, of the 1800 block of Coolidge Avenue, Berkeley, was charged at 10:45 p.m. Jan. 1 with driving while license suspended, improper use of registration, no valid registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at Poplar Avenue and First Street.

• Wendell Phillips, 47, of the 1S200 block of Michigan Avenue, Villa Park, was charged at 5:19 p.m. Jan. 2 with driving while license suspended at North and Kenilworth avenues.

• Keith H. Spencer, 35, of the 200 block of North Waller Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 3:43 p.m. Jan. 3 with no valid driver's license and unlawful use of an electronic communication device at Roosevelt Road and Kirk Avenue.

Warrant arrest

• Erick Bandy, 22, of the 400 block of North Beverly Avenue, Villa Park, was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Dec. 23 on a warrant out of Elgin and charged with disorderly conduct in the 100 block of West Second Avenue.

• Blair Davis, 33, of the 500 block of South Summit Avenue, Villa Park, was arrested at 6:39 p.m. Dec. 29 on a warrant out of DuPage County and charged with driving while license suspended and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 300 block of South York Street.

• Gregory Staskowski, 38, of the 300 block of West Liberty Drive, Wheaton, was arrested at 6:19 p.m. Dec. 30 on a warrant out of DuPage County in the 300 block of South Spring Road.

• Jose Gonzalez, 41, of the 2300 block of South Avers Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. Jan. 1 on a warrant out of Chicago and charged with disobeying a traffic control signal, no valid driver's license and illegal transportation of open alcohol at Lake and Walnut streets. Edgar Gongora, 33, of the 2800 block of South Central Park Avenue, Chicago, was cited at the same time and date with illegal transportation of open alcohol at the same location.
