A new initiative from the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry will recognize 30 individuals younger than 40 who are making a difference in the region, according to a chamber news release.
Candidates must live or work in one of the chamber’s nine communities, be younger than 40 on or before May 1, have passion for their company’s mission and culture, exhibit leadership qualities, and demonstrate significant contributions to the region, the release stated. Winners will be selected by a group of experienced professionals from the chamber’s current leadership and Top Tier members. Chamber membership is not required to be nominated.
“As a Chamber of Commerce, we realize that this demographic makes an impact on our communities and deserves unique recognition,” chamber Executive Director Suzi Wirtz said in the release. “Our continued success as a regional Chamber in nine diverse communities depends, in part, on our ability and commitment to identify and promote future leaders, which in turn assists in maintaining a vibrant community of thriving businesses.”
Chamber communities include Brookfield, Countryside, Hodgkins, Indian Head Park, La Grange, La Grange Park, McCook, Western Springs and Willow Springs, according to the chamber's website.
The chamber hopes to engage those selected in their communities and in the chamber and to build on the initiative each year, the release stated.
Nominations will be accepted until Feb. 15. Winners will be announced in March and honored May 17 at a ceremony at Brookfield Zoo.
