The Drew house, 5256 Carpenter St., Downers Grove, became the village's first landmarked home in 2008. The home was built in 1888 and belonged to Donald Drew, who founded the Oratorio Society, which later became the Downers Grove Choral Society, Bishop said. Mildred Drew continued to live in the house following her brother's death.
Some of the items in the collection were donated to the museum by the Drew family estate in 2014, while the second part of the collection was added during the summer, Bishop said.
“That’s really where my interest came from,” said Bishop, who has spent the past several months cataloging the items. "It's been a longtime project."
While sorting through the collection, he found an account book that belonged to Dr. Franklin Roe, one of the first Downers Grove physicians, who practiced during the second half of the 19th century.
