CHANNAHON – A security camera caught an unidentified person vandalizing Christmas decorations in Channahon on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the 26000 block of Melissa Drive in the Highlands subdivision, Channahon Deputy Police Chief Adam Bogart said. The security camera footage shows it happened at 10:25 p.m.

The Channahon police posted a link on the department’s Facebook page to a YouTube video of the security footage.

“Can anyone help identify the Grinch or his accomplice’s sleigh?” the post read.

The video shows a vehicle pull up to what appears to be a residence with a snowman-type decoration in the front yard. One person gets out of the passenger seat and proceeds to run toward the decoration and knock it over.

The vandal then appears to throw part of the decoration onto the empty adjacent driveway, knocks over another decoration and then throws another item up into the air. The vandal then gets back into the car, which drives away. The whole incident took less than a minute.

The video was posted to a channel for Tom Pritchard. The description of the video reads, “Kids came by last night and killed my decorations. Hope someone recognizes the SUV or this thug.”
