Elmhurst police respond to burglaries in north Elmhurst

ELMHURST – Elmhurst police are investigating several residential burglaries that reportedly occurred in north Elmhurst between 7:45 and 8:45 p.m. Jan. 3.

Police responded the evening of Jan. 3 to a residential burglar alarm in the 200 block of East Elmhurst Avenue, according to an Elmhurst Police Department news release.

Responding officers reportedly discovered pry marks on the door and fresh footprints in the snow, the release stated.

Subsequent investigation revealed two other homes in the area had been burglarized in the 200 block of North Larch Avenue and the 200 block of North Michigan Avenue, according to the release.

The Elmhurst Police Department reminds residents to lock their doors at night, activate burglar alarms and use motion detector lighting if possible. Anyone with information or video of the area is asked to contact police at 630-530-3050 or policeinfo@elmhurst.org.
