JOLIET – The Joliet Nordic Ski Club is holding a cross country ski race Jan. 7 at the Woodruff Golf Course.
The race is for skiers of all abilities. There will be 12K race, a 4K junior race (age 14 and younger) and a 4K adult fun race. The race course is on the golf course with rolling terrain and is groomed for both diagonal and skating if snow conditions allow.
The racing begins with a mass start at 9:30 a.m. Registration costs $20 for the 12K adult race and $10 for the two 4K races. There will be an awards ceremony for different age groups with male and female classifications.
There also will be a 50/50 split pot raffle.
Bill Kozol of the Joliet Nordic Ski Club said this will be the first year the race will be held since 2014 because of poor weather conditions in the past. If there is no snow the day of the event, there is no reschedule date, however they might have an impromptu race if conditions allow at a later date.
The club also will have a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cemeno’s Pizza in Joliet.
