More than 20 reports of vehicles being unlawfully entered in the early hours of Nov. 27 were reported in La Grange, Western Springs and Countryside, according to a village of La Grange news release.
In each instance except one, the offender entered vehicles that were unlocked and parked on residential driveways, the release stated.
The incidents are under investigation by the La Grange, Western Springs and Countryside police departments, according to the release.
The village of La Grange reminds residents to take precautions to prevent motor vehicle burglaries. The village's tips include:
• Keep all vehicle doors and windows closed and locked at all times. Close all windows and the sunroof, and do not leave keys inside the vehicle.
• Engage the vehicle’s alarm system if there is one.
• Remove visible items of value (wallet, purse, electronics, etc.) from the vehicle.
Residents also are reminded to call 911 if they see or hear any suspicious activity, the release stated.
