It also was quite a home opener for new coach Scott Plaisier. “It was a good start. The boys were ready. We had to show some resiliency at the end,” Plaisier said. “We try to approach every game the same way. It was an exciting moment and it’s good for them to enjoy it but that mindset of playing the same way all of the time helped them be energized from the start and play within themselves.”
Junior Jordyn Strube scored 12 points for the Timothy girls (3-3, 1-1) in her first game since breaking her wrist in the season opener. Senior Emily DeBoer also returned, giving the team a full roster of nine.
“We were a little nervous for this whole big event. We just told them relax, play your best, the game that you love, on our court,” Timothy coach Michele Strube said. “This is a special night. They were super nervous and then, after the first couple of minutes, they did great.”
