Western Springs to welcome Winter Wonderland and Christmas Marketplace

WESTERN SPRINGS – The Western Springs Winter Wonderland and Christmas Marketplace – formerly the Christmas Walk – will help ring in the Christmas season Dec. 2.

Featuring food, drinks, live music, shopping and visits with Santa, the Western Springs Business Association event will run from 2 to 7 p.m. in downtown Western Springs, according to the association's website.

The Christmas Market will be along Hillgrove Avenue, offering a unique shopping experience in both open air and heated tents. Local vendors will open at 2 p.m. and sell a variety of items including jewelry, housewares, toys for all ages, clothing, accessories and more, the website stated.

This year, Santa will be at the Tower Green, with visiting hours in a "Santa House" designed and built by Riordan Signature Homes. Santa will arrive via fire engine at 2:30 p.m. to help kick off the event. The official lighting of the village Christmas tree will take place at 5 p.m., according to the website.

The Western Springs Business Association will sell keepsake ceramic mugs to be filled with hot chocolate or the traditional German mulled wine. Other festive food and beverage offerings will be provided by Solstice, the website stated.

The Steve Shelton Band also will play from 5 to 7 p.m.

The headline sponsor for the event is Re/Max Properties of Western Springs, according to the website.
