ELMHURST – Elmhurst police are searching for the final suspect in a burglary and hit-and-run crash involving a police vehicle after taking two others into custody.
Police responded to a report of a burglary to a garage at about 5 a.m. Nov. 27. As officers arrived, they attempted to stop a vehicle, which then struck a police squad car at West and Gladys avenues, according to an Elmhurst Police Department news release. The vehicle's occupants fled the crash on foot, eastbound on Fremont Avenue, the release stated.
Elmhurst police officers, with the help of surrounding police agencies and police K-9 dogs, had been searching the area for the suspects, according to the release. The third suspect is described as a black male teenager with a thin build and short hair, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was last seen around the Elmhurst Post Office, according to an update on the city's website.
Police have formed a perimeter around the area, the update stated. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call 911.
