Elmhurst police investigate several overnight burglaries

Offender entered unsecured doors, stole wallets and purses while residents asleep

The Elmhurst Police Department is investigating several overnight residential burglaries that occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. Nov. 25 in south Elmhurst.

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Police Department is investigating several overnight residential burglaries that occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. Nov. 25 in south Elmhurst.

The offender entered unsecured doors and stole wallets and purses while residents were asleep, according to a news release from the Elmhurst Police Department. The incidents occurred in the 400 block of Prairie Avenue and 400 block of Poplar Avenue, the release stated. In addition, there was an attempted incident in the 200 block of South Street.

In response, the Police Department has increased patrols and personnel in the area, according to the release. The department is reminding residents to make sure all doors are locked and motion sensor lights are activated before going to bed, the release stated.

Residents are asked to immediately call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
