Best choices to run Illinois?

Barring something drastic, our choices for governor will be Republican Bruce Rauner and Democrat J.B. Prtizker. Are either of these gentlemen the best choice to run Illinois? Rauner's father was a senior executive with Motorola and graduated from Dartmouth and Harvard Business School. Pritzker grew up in one of the wealthiest families in Illinois and graduated from Duke and Northwestern Business School. ... Can't we find people to run for public office who didn't grow up in privilege and attended public schools? Whether it's someone who grew up in very modest circumstances and worked hard to achieve professional success, or simply the child of a corporate middle manager or small business owner, that person probably attended public schools and worried, as a young adult, about paying the rent and managing the debt from student loans. Someone like that would better understand the plight of the middle class in Illinois.

Let Trump run the country

I like to say they're complaining about President [Donald] Trump and the way he's running the country. He was elected as president. Let him be, let him run the country. If we don't like it, we'll vote him out in four years.

Vote them out

The Illinois state income tax was 3 percent at one time. It was raised at one time by Democrats in our General Assembly to 4.99 percent. That hike then lapsed in 2015 after Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner became the governor. Then, this last summer, Illinois House Speaker [Michael] Madigan, with the help of 15 Republicans, overrode the governor's and got our state income tax raised to 4.99 percent. Get the names of the Illinois General Assembly members who obeyed Madigan and got us from 3 percent to nearly 5 percent for state income tax. We pay their salary, and they spit in our faces while picking our pockets. If their betrayal is OK with you, [be quiet]. If not, vote them out.
