Bolingbrook Village Deputy Mayor Leroy Brown died on Tuesday.
Brown, who also was a village trustee, was appointed to the Bolingbrook Board of Trustees in 1993 to fill a vacancy and was then elected to his first full four-year term in 1995. In 2000, he was appointed deputy mayor, according to the village of Bolingbrook.
Brown also served on the village’s public safety committee and was the chair of the finance committee. Brown served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Green Beret.
The Bolingbrook VFW sent out a statement on its Facebook page saying, “He was always present at our activities, especially our Memorial Day services to honor all veterans.”
Brown won many awards and much recognition throughout his career, was a part of numerous organizations and worked for the Valley View School District as safety coordinator.
Brown was a resident of Bolingbrook since 1976 and was married to his wife, Pat, for 50 years. He is survived by his two sons, Leroy Jr. and Jeffry, as well as two grandsons and three granddaughters.
