Sumrell, who came to Chicago from Atlanta, has wanted to be a chef since he was 9. He received his bachelor's degree in culinary business management from The Art Institute of Atlanta, and he staged at Husk, a restaurant in Nashville, under award-winning chef Sean Brock.
Jim and Kristi Blessing, Elmhurst residents of 25 years, opened One Fifty One, 151 N. York St., in October 2016 because they "felt a kind of void" in the western suburbs for a farm-to-table concept restaurant, Kristi said.
The Blessings also own Pints, an Elmhurst sports pub they opened in 2010, and Barrel House Social, a sports bar in La Grange they opened in March. Chefs at the three restaurants come together to discuss menu ideas, Sumrell said.
