The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office continues its search for Amy Nelson, who has been missing for more than a week.
Nelson, 39, was last seen at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Four Lakes apartment complex near Lisle.
"At this time, it appears she left of her own accord, but investigators are covering all bases," Sgt. Bob Harris said in an email Oct. 2. "She was last [seen] walking in the Four Lakes apartment complex and she was alone. It's certainly concerning that she left her purse and cell phone behind."
The length of time since she was last seen along with the fact that she has no cell phone, vehicle or financial means available to her raise the level of concern, a Sheriff's Office news release stated.
Nelson is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 145 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair, blue eyes and glasses, according to the release. She was last seen wearing a gray or dark blue shirt, blue jeans and Birkenstock sandals, and she may be carrying a maroon backpack.
Nelson is a nurse, wife and mother of two. She has family in both Lisle and La Grange Park, the release stated.
