A home in the 1N700 block of Forest Avenue near Glen Ellyn was heavily damaged in a fire Oct. 2 that also spread to an adjacent house.
The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company and neighboring departments responded to a reported structure fire at about 1:30 p.m. at the home, according to a news release from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company.
Prior to their arrival, the incident went to a box alarm to bring additional resources to the scene, and it ultimately increased to a second box alarm, the release stated.
Upon arrival, the first companies on the scene reported heavy fire showing from the back of the house, with exposure to an adjacent house, according to the release.
Heavy fire damage was limited to the primary structure, but the adjacent home did have some limited fire damage, the release stated.
There were no injuries to residents of either house, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury, according to the release.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force, the release stated. Glen Ellyn firefighters were assisted by fire personnel from Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glenside, Hanover Park, Lombard, Schaumburg, Villa Park, Wheaton and York Center.
