Elmhurst Knights of Columbus celebrate its 8th annual Oktoberfest event

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Knights of Columbus will celebrate Oktoberfest with dinner and dancing starting at 5 p.m. Oct. 7, complete with the Elmhurst College Jazz Band, at its hall.

The Knights of Columbus event will feature bratwurst and holiday kraut from Usinger's Famous Sausage from Milwaukee, Wis., according to an Elmhurst Knights of Columbus news release. German potato salad, strudel from a local hometown bakery and Hofbrau Oktoberfest beer will also be served, the release stated.

State Rep. Patti Bellock, R-Hinsdale, is scheduled to tap the keg and kick off the fun part of the night. Bellock has worked closely with the organization and is being recognized for her efforts working for people with developmental disabilities and mental illness, the release stated.

The Elmhurst College Jazz Band, under the direction of Doug Beach, will perform classic Oktoberfest tunes, big band and jazz music, and modern classics, according to the release.

In September, the Knights collected more than $20,000 through the Tootsie Roll sales fundraiser to donate to local charities, the release stated.

Tickets are available at the hall Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, at www.elmhurstkofc.org and at the door on Oct. 7. The $20 ticket includes two bratwursts, two sides, choice of one beer or soda, dessert and entertainment.

The Elmhurst Knights of Columbus hall is at 537 S. York Road, Elmhurst.
