DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove commissioner Bob Barnett sharply criticized Mayor Martin Tully and the Village Council on Oct. 3 for failing to follow a consistent process when it comes to appointments to village boards and commissions.
Barnett's remarks came before the council approved Tully's 24 appointments and reappointments to several boards and commissions, including two Downers Grove Public LIbrary trustees.
“The process remains our problem,” said Barnett, who cast the lone vote against the appointments and reappointments. “When it comes to process, we are our own biggest enemy. I’d say we have work to do.”
