PLAINFIELD – A Plainfield man was arrested after he allegedly beat his girlfriend with a belt and damaged a Will County Sheriff’s Office squad car with his head, authorities said.
Nemesis R. Swart, 26, of the 14000 block of South Oregon Drive, was arrested by Will County Sheriff’s deputies on charges of domestic battery and criminal damage to government property.
Swart got into a domestic dispute with his girlfriend Wednesday, Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Jungles said. Jungles said Swart allegedly struck his girlfriend with his belt.
After Swart’s arrest, he was placed inside a sheriff’s office squad car, which he proceeded to damage by banging his head against it, Jungles said.
Swart was booked into the Will County jail, and his bond was set at $10,000.
A preliminary hearing in the case was slated for Oct. 20.
A protective order was filed against Swart on Thursday by a woman who lives at the same address as him. A hearing for an extension of the order of protection was set for Oct. 19.
