Suburban Life Sound Off: Sept. 18-24

In response to Trump presidency blame

Instead of all that hate that you have for the Republicans, do something good for a stranger, not knowing if the person is a Democrat or Republican. ... Instead of that person calling up Sound Off and talking so badly about the Republicans, let them call the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse and donate to the cause, not knowing if the person they're donating to is a Democrat or Republican. I don't care because they are human beings; they have the same blood running through their body like I do.

Concerned by construction choice in Downers Grove

Driving in downtown Downers [Grove], I took notice of the condominiums being built and could not believe that building and zoning permitted stick construction in the construction of commercial buildings. Stick construction refers to wood two-by-fours. Having been in the construction trade for over 45 years, it is hard to believe that this has been the approved means of construction. I would like building and zoning [to] explain why metal studs were not used, which limit the massive intense spreading of flames in the event of a fire. Stick-constructed structures were replaced with metal studs to eliminate such a catastrophe. If one of these condos should catch fire, our Fire Department will have an awful time containing it due to the fast-burning wood studs.

Different location for Woodridge park

I don't agree with Woodridge putting up a park area around 83rd Street – I guess it would be in back of Sipley School. If anyone lives around there, you know that they play basketball until all hours of the evening, and adding more stuff there would probably draw more people to sitting there, loafing around and playing basketball again for more hours and doing other stuff. I think building something but closer to the police station and post office and the area around there would be a better exposure to safety.

Think before speaking

This is for the person who wanted Jesus to write the health care law. I guarantee that Jesus would not have turned everyone's health care over to the Roman government. Please think before you speak.

No more NFL 'crybabies'

The NFL needs to get rid of athletes who protest our national anthem. Who needs spoiled, crybaby, millionaire athletes who disrespect the salute to the flag of the very nation that made them into celebrities? They are like spoiled brats who lay on the floor and kick and scream if they don't get their way.
