Jenny Clark, fitness center supervisor, said the facility was needed in the area because there was no recreational or fitness facility. She said residents frequently indicated in surveys they wanted a fitness center.
“There was a great need. It’s important the Park District provides healthy activities so the community can stay fit and live longer,” she said. “Our goal is to provide a nice facility where members can come and create a community where they can support and encourage each other.”
Clark said she is excited to offer more than 40 exercise classes every week. Some of the classes included with a membership include yoga, pilates, boot camp, core conditioning, spinning, tabata, Zumba and full-body strength.
The facility also has a Queenax, which Clark described as a functional fitness trainer with several apparatuses for different exercises. It is new to the U.S. but popular in other countries, Clark said.
