Football: Knights don't miss a beat in Saunders' first start at QB

FOOTBALL

IC Catholic: Khalil Saunders, making his first varsity start at quarterback for the injured Luke Ricobene, threw for 81 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score in the Knights' 54-0 win over Elmwood Park on Sept. 8.

Lazerick Eatman ran for 186 yards and three touchdowns and Kyle Franklin and Daniel Gibbons also ran for touchdowns for IC (2-1).

VOLLEYBALL

Timothy Christian: Tracy Westra had five kills, 15 assists and three aces, Rachel Stoll had five kills and seven digs, Emily DeBoer had three kills and four blocks and Abygale Ahn had 10 digs and four assists for Timothy Christian (8-2, 4-0) in a 25-16, 25-13 win over St. Edward on Sept. 12. The Trojans beat Elmwood Park 25-9, 25-18 on Sept. 7, Heidi Westra getting four kills and Tracy Westra 15 assists.

TENNIS

Glenbard East: The Rams took second to Lake Park at the Glenbard East Invitational on Sept. 9. Amber Province took second for Glenbard East at No. 3 singles.

York: The Dukes (11-7) defeated Wheaton North 6-2 on Sept. 11. Cate Duhig and Siva Sreedhar won singles matches for York. Melissa Cartis/Aleksina Jovic, Jacki Riek/Isabella Nicoli, Lauren Fonorow/Cristina Gamboa and Rachel Kayman/Jessica Paist won doubles matches.

York won the Buffalo Grove Invite on Sept. 9. Cartis and Gianna Nikoleit took second at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, with Jovic first at No. 3 singles. The doubles team of Lauren Fonorow and Eva Jacobsthal took first, as did Micki Neidigh and Elysia Woodward.
