Sounds on the Street to celebrate end of summer in Glen Ellyn

Event to be Sept. 1 in downtown Glen Ellyn

The band Split Decision will perform at the seventh annual Sounds on the Street, set to take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Sept. 1 on Main Street between Hillside Avenue and Duane Street in downtown Glen Ellyn. Admission to the event, organized by the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn, is free. Students from the School of Rock will take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by Split Decision at 8 p.m.

GLEN ELLYN – The Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn will celebrate the end of summer with Sounds on the Street, an event that will feature live bands along with food and drink.

The seventh annual Sounds on the Street will take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Sept. 1 on Main Street between Hillside Avenue and Duane Street.

Students from Glen Ellyn’s School of Rock will perform at 7 p.m., followed by featured band Split Decision, which will take the stage at 8 p.m. and perform songs from the 1970s to current hits.

Those who attend can buy $5 souvenir cups that are good for free soda at participating local restaurants the night of the event.

Main Street will close between Hillside and Duane at 5 p.m., when the band shell goes up and tables and chairs begin filling the street, according to a news release from the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn.

Participating restaurants, including Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant, Fire + Wine, Blackberry Market, Shannon’s Irish Pub and Maize+Mash, will remain open at 7 p.m. for food and drinks.

A $5 donation is requested from those who attend the event, but the donation is not mandatory.

Outside alcohol is prohibited.
