Pet adoption event set Saturday in Algonquin

ALGONQUIN – More than 30 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be up for grabs at a mega-adoption event Saturday in Algonquin.

Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin is teaming with Petco Foundation for the adoption event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Algonquin Petco store, 702 S. Randall Road.

“This is a great opportunity to meet some wonderful pets,” Maria Schau, the shelter’s off-site adoption coordinator, said in a news release. “There is no waiting period – you can take your new best friend home with you the day you adopt. With so many great pets to choose from, at least one is sure to steal your heart.”

Anderson Animal Shelter is the Fox Valley area’s largest and oldest animal shelter, serving the area for more than 50 years, according to the release.

The shelter cares for more than 5,000 homeless pets each year and conducts adoptions through its main shelter, 1000 S. LaFox St. in South Elgin, as well as at two satellite adoption centers that opened earlier this year.

The Bloomington Adoption Center is located inside the Petco store on Army Trail Road in Bloomington, and the North Aurora Adoption Center is located next to Pet Supplies Plus on Randall Road in North Aurora. All three adoption centers are open seven days a week.
