However, Community High School District 99 is opposed to the new plan.
“Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele was in communications with Reps. [Patti] Bellock and Olsen throughout the day [Aug. 28] conveying our strong opposition to the state funding bill,” said Jill Browning, the district’s director of communications.
Thiele also spoke with state Sens. Curran, Pat McGuire and Chris Nybo about the legislation, Browning said.
She said the bill was "created hastily without public input and without fidelity to the evidence-based model."
"Rather than using the [evidence-based model] to equitably distribute funds to school districts in need, it is being used to claim and to portray that some schools are overspending," Browning said. "We believe this is misleading, unfair and untrue, and has the potential in time to erode how our schools in District 99 are funded."
