Morton College offers new student orientation sessions

CICERO – Morton College is hosting a variety of new student orientation sessions to welcome new students and ease their transition into college life, according to a college news release.

All recent high school graduates who are attending Morton College in the fall are required to attend one of the sessions. This year, the college has revitalized the orientations by training current Morton College students, known as student leaders, to lead the orientations, the release stated.

“The NSO committee comprised of a variety of student affairs areas such as Academic Advising, Office of Admissions and Records, Athletics and Student Activities are optimistic that current students will motivate and encourage our new incoming students to be successful on our campus and create strong mentor relationships,” Director of Student Development Marisol Velasquez said in the release.

At the orientation sessions, students will learn about Morton College and its resources, receive a campus tour and meet with an adviser, according to the release. Additionally, they will attend a workshop to learn how to use the Panther Portal and register for classes.

Orientation sessions are offered through Aug. 19 during the morning, afternoon and evening, the release stated.
