JOLIET – The public is invited to the Will County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
The event will be at noon Thursday on the north lawn of the Will County Courthouse, 14 W. Jefferson St., Joliet. Officers from every local department will come together for a ceremony dedicated to area officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The annual event coincides with National Police Week.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to pay their respects to the men and women who work to protect them,” Shorewood Police Chief Aaron Klima said.
Illinois State Police Director Leo Schmitz will be the guest speaker. The ceremony will include a pipe and drum corps, rifle squad and a memorial wreath placed by Troy Middle School students.
