CHANNAHON – Channahon Village President Missey Moorman Schumacher this week swore in three village trustees who were re-elected to board seats in the April 4 election, and named and swore in a new trustee to take a recently vacated seat.
Village Clerk Patricia Perinar was appointed to replace former trustee Debbie Militello after Militello accepted an appointment on the Will County Board representing District 6. Schumacher will appoint a new clerk at a later date.
Perinar has served as clerk since 2013. She is also a substitute teacher at Minooka Community High School and in Channahon School District 17 schools, and is a volunteer for the MCHS volleyball team.
She has also served on the Three Rivers Festival Committee and as a Channooka Braves board member. Perinar’s term as trustee will end April 2019.
The village board accepted Militello’s resignation and presented her with a certificate of appreciation.
Re-elected to the board and sworn in Monday were Sam Greco, Chantal Host and Mark Scaggs. Schumacher also reappointed Mark Thelo as trustee to the Channahon Police Pension Board and named Finance Director Heather Wagonblott as a trustee on the pension board, replacing Bob Guess.
Trustees Monday also approved designs for a permanent monument sign for the St. Elizabeth Residences in Channahon Town Center. The senior residences are being constructed on land just west of the village hall and adjacent to St. Ann Catholic Church.
The town center area in the village has its own design guidelines, and, according to Director of Community Development Michael Petrick, the town center guidelines are open to interpretation. The signage proposed by the developer was approved by the village’s planning and zoning commission the week prior.
The monument sign will be 6 feet 2 inches high and 13 feet 5 inches wide and will not be lit. The sign will be placed in the median along St. Elizabeth Drive with enough setback, according to Petrick, for vision clearance.
Trustees also approved the purchase of a mobile data collector and software for water meter reading equipment from Ferguson Waterworks of DeKalb in the amount of $6,586.
The village is also looking for three seasonal workers for the summer. Director of Public Works Edward Dolezal said he will be hiring three employees for 12 weeks at a pay rate of $12.25 per hour. Those interested may contact the village hall at 815-467-6644.
Channahon will hold its annual village-wide garage sale Thursday through Saturday. Maps will be available starting Thursday at the village hall, 24555 S. Navajo Drive.
