JOLIET – A $2 million bond has been set for a Shorewood man who allegedly struck a woman with a hammer and set her home on fire Saturday.
Timothy S. Gregory, 36, of the 900 block of South Raven Road, also faces new charges issued Monday, after he was arrested by Joliet police and charged Saturday with aggravated battery and aggravated arson.
Gregory faces two counts of aggravated arson, a Class X felony that carries a prison sentence of six to 30 years.
He’s also charged with residential arson, arson, two counts of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property between $300 and $10,000.
His next court date is 9 a.m. April 21 at the Will County Courthouse.
As a condition of his bond, Gregory is not to have contact with two people or their home in the 1000 block of North Infantry Drive in Joliet. Police have said the woman Gregory attacked at the home is his brother’s significant other.
Joliet Deputy Chief Al Roechner said the woman is still at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. She was in a drug-induced coma and her condition has not changed, he said.
