DOWNERS GROVE – A now-chillier team of Downers Grove fundraisers raised nearly $25,000 for the Special Olympics leading up to the annual Polar Plunge in Chicago.

The Downers Grove Plungaholics, made up of 56 members from around the area, joined thousands of others in diving into Lake Michigan off of Chicago's North Avenue Beach March 5 to raise money and awareness in the annual event, finishing in the top 10 of all fundraising groups.

The team was rallied by team captains David and Holly Francis, who have a young son with Down syndrome.
