HUNTLEY – A new CVS Pharmacy could be coming to Huntley at the northwest corner of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road.
The 13,225-square-foot building would sit on about 1.75 acres, according to village documents. The site also includes a 1.14-acre lot for future development, a space for stormwater detention and a lot for flood plain compensatory storage.
Materials used for the building would include stacked stone, structural brick and split-faced block, according to village documents. The building would include a drive-thru pharmacy.
“It’s just a lot of brick wall to look at,” Trustee John Piwko said when conceptual plans were discussed at the March 2 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Charlie Haapala of T.M. Crowley and Associates, a petitioner for the project on behalf of CVS, said landscaping around the property would help break up the brick.
According to village documents, the developer also worked with the village to add architectural features and patterns to increase interest in the brickwork.
In response to Trustee Ronda Goldman’s question on when the existing house at the corner would be knocked down, developers said there is no set timeline.
Developers also said at the Committee of the Whole meeting that a buyer for the second property had not yet been identified, but it could be retail or office space.
Huntley trustees gave the OK for plans for the business to begin the formal development review process with the Huntley Plan Commission.
