Lakemoor police use naloxone to revive unconscious man

LAKEMOOR – A Lakemoor police officer used naloxone to revive a 24-year-old man suffering a suspected opioid overdose Sunday, police said.

The Lakemoor Police Department was called about 10:26 a.m. to assist an ambulance. Officer Ben Walton was the first officer at the scene and found a man unconscious and unresponsive. Walton determined that the man had overdosed on opioids, and he immediately administered one dose of naloxone, police said.

The man regained consciousness and began breathing. He was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, police said.

Lakemoor police reportedly have saved five lives with the use of naloxone since adopting the practice.
