Local voters may get their only chance to see Republican and Democratic candidates in the same room before election day at the League of Women Voters' Oct. 16 voter's forum.
Candidates from across the area will be on hand to take moderated questions from members of the community, brought together by Leagues in DuPage, McHenry and Kane counties.
The various leagues recently united after expressing frustration after several years of lackluster attendance from some elected officials. Candidates for the DuPage County Forest Preserve's District 4 seat were unavailable, otherwise all contested races in the areas represented by the leagues will have at least one candidate present.
The Candidates Forum is co-sponsored by the leagues of Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Palatine Area, Naperville, Elmhurst, Central Kane County, McHenry County, and Downers Grove, Woodridge and Lisle.
The forum will be held at Glenbard South High School at 23 W. 200 Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn, and candidates may remain through 5:15 p.m. to meet informally with voters.
