Glen Ellyn candidate drops out of Republican primary race against Roskam

Gerald 'Jerry' Drabik endorses Glen Ellyn Park District commissioner

Glen Ellyn resident Gerald "Jerry" Drabik has dropped out of the Republican primary race against U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Wheaton, and has thrown his support to fellow candidate and Glen Ellyn resident Jay Kinzler.

"Jay believes in what I call the pillars of this election – term limits, reducing the debt, ending illegal immigration, protecting the homeland, and standing up for and defending the Constitution," Drabik said in a news release from Kinzler's campaign office. "It is time we start electing representatives to Washington who represent us, the people, not the ruling class.”

Kinzler has been a Glen Ellyn Park District commissioner for six years, and he served on the Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission for five years.

The 6th Congressional District of Illinois covers parts of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties. Roskam, who was raised in Glen Ellyn and graduated from Glenbard West High School, has been in office since 2007.

The primary election will be March 15. Robert Marshall of Burr Ridge will face Amanda Howland of Lake Zurich in the Democratic primary for the seat.

Kinzler's campaign also announced the hiring of Zachary Werrell, the campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Dave Brat of Virginia, who in 2014 defeated then-Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
