St. Charles Township woman cited in 3-car crash in Geneva

GENEVA – One of the drivers in a three-car crash, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Monday in downtown Geneva, was ticketed, according to police crash reports.

Joy A. Freedlund, 69, of the 38W300 block of Burr Road Lane, St. Charles Township, received citations for driving in the wrong lane and driving with an expired driver’s license, according to the crash report.

Freedlund was driving a 2015 BMW X5 south in the 300 block of South Third Street, 40 feet north of Fulton Street, when she crossed over the center line and into the northbound lane, according to the crash reports.

Freedlund’s car struck a 2015 Subaru Legacy head-on. The Subaru was being driven by a Campton Hills woman, according to the crash report. After colliding with the Subaru, Freedlund continued traveling south in the northbound lane and struck the front of a parked 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, which was owned by a Geneva man.

The two drivers and a passenger in the Subaru were taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva with injuries that were not life-threatening, police had said.
