The Kane County Electoral Board on Tuesday announced the times and location for hearing objections to the Certification of Nominating Petitions filed for the March 15 general primary.
The board will meet starting at 9 a.m. Monday in the Kane County Clerk’s office conference room, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Building B, Geneva, according to a news release.
The hearing is open to the public and will be held in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the release stated.
Board members will consist of Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham acting as board chairman, Kane County Circuit Clerk Tom Hartwell and Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon, according to the release.
The board members will hear testimony regarding the 10 objections. The first objection will be heard at 9 a.m. Monday from Aurora resident Sixto Ojeda against Kane County Coroner candidate John Shoemaker of North Aurora.
Shoemaker and Tao Martinez have filed to run in the Democratic primary for Kane County coroner, according to the Kane County Elections website. Bob Tiballi is running against incumbent Rob Russell in the Republican primary for coroner.
The board starting at 9:20 a.m. Monday will hear the rest of the objections over 20- and 15-minute intervals. There were nine other objections to Democratic candidates – one each for county board candidates Angela Clay Thomas and Barbara Hernandez, as well as seven Aurora precinct committeeman candidates.
