ST. CHARLES – A 14-day traffic enforcement period in St. Charles netted three driving under the influence arrests, the St. Charles Police Department announced Tuesday in a news release.
The Thanksgiving traffic safety detail, which was Nov. 16 to 29, was done in cooperation with and funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation and in connection with the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
Additional patrol officers were assigned to enforcement details at night, when impaired driving is more likely to occur, the release stated.
In addition to the DUI arrests, officers issued seven speeding citations, two citations for driving without insurance and two citations for other offenses, including one for underage drinking, according to the release.
The release indicated officers also issued seven written warnings for various violations.
