LOMBARD – The Healthy Lombard Foundation is helping kids make healthy choices this summer through the return of its Flat Apple program.
The summer program encourages kids to embrace healthy lifestyles through education and exercise.
Parents now can register children ages 4 to 14 for the program at healthylombard.com by following the registration link at the top of the main page.
Healthy Lombard will host Hot Spot Events during the duration of the program that encourage group exercise activities. Event participants will earn one "bite at the apple" for each event they attend. Each bite is an opportunity for participants to earn a prize for their healthy habits.
The program will kick off June 25 at the Reach out for Outreach 5K Run/Walk and Dash on Ash Kids’ Race. The event supports the work of The Outreach House, which helps area families with basic needs such as food, clothing and support services in times of need.
The Flat Apple Program will conclude Sept. 19.
