Each spring provides a chance for baseball and softball players to make their mark, some for the first time at the varsity level. Here are a few players having breakout seasons on the diamond.

Impact: Villasenor has emerged as the Blazers' ace, and a good one at that. He has a 1.52 ERA and four wins so far this spring, while striking out 44 batters in 46 innings.
Impact: Montini has plenty of returning talent this season, but Cuchran has stepped right in and contributed as a freshman. On a team that hits plenty of home runs, the third baseman is tied for the team lead with seven homers.
School: IC Catholic
Impact: Falduto was on varsity last year, but has become an everyday player in the lineup at second base this season. She is one of the team's most improved players according to coach Frank Reaber.
