Wheaton resident to speak at Glen Ellyn Historical Society event on Civil War

GLEN ELLYN – The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will host a presentation about Chicago's ties to the Civil War, the society announced in a news release.

The talk will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 16 at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St.

Wheaton resident Kurt Carlson will discuss an article he published in the 2011 Civil War sesquicentennial issue of the Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society.

He will talk about how Chicago supported soldiers and interesting characters who played major roles in the Civil War experience.

Tickets are $5 for adults and free for students.
