LOMBARD – Healthy Lombard is using a grant from the State Health Improvement Program to enhance workplace wellness options at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, according to a foundation news release.

The foundation was selected to receive a 2014-15 grant from the program.

Its efforts at the Westin hotel have focused on awareness, activites and achievement.

For awareness, Healthy Lombard provided an overview of tools available from the improvement program's Health Priority Area Resource Page Healthier Worksite Initiative.

Westin staff members were surveyed to determine what health needs could be addressed. Stress topped the list for employees, the release stated.

In response, Healthy Lombard introduced various activites for employees, including a workshop on holistic ways to reduce and manage stress, the reestablishment of the hotel's Wellness Committee, other informational opportunities from the DuPage County Health Department, yoga and zumba classes, and more.

The last component of Healthy Lombard's efforts – achievement – will be evaluated through a post-survey of employees and written comments from participants.

Healthy Lombard's participation in this project dovetails with its mission to address the epidemic of childhood obesity by encouraging everyone to follow a healthy lifestyle, even in the workplace, according to the release.
