Body found in tent in woods near Harlem Avenue

A decaying body was discovered inside a tent and reported to the Lyons Police Department at 3:05 p.m. March 22 after the caller discovered it while walking in the forest near the Portage Woods, according to police reports.

The body was determined to be located on property owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and the investigation was turned over to MWRD
authorities, Lyons police said.

The body was found on a hill by the Harlem Avenue Solids Management Area in the 500 block of South Harlem Avenue in Forest View.

According to Allison Fore, spokeswoman for the MWRD, the body was identified as James Humay, 49, of the 2700 block of West 43rd Street, Chicago, whom was reported missing with the Chicago Police Department in January.

Fore said police from Forest View and with the Illinois State Police Department assisted MWRD authorities with their investigation. No foul play was suspected.

According to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Humay died of natural causes.
