CRYSTAL LAKE – A program specifically tailored for paralegal work in McHenry County and the greater Chicago area is starting this fall at McHenry County College.
Two introductory eight-week classes start this fall for the associate degree in applied science in paralegal studies. They include Introduction to Paralegal Studies and Legal Research and Writing, both offered from 7 to 9:50 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
The job outlook for paralegals is projected to grow faster than average and the median annual pay is $46,990 a year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A degree in paralegal studies can lead to multiple career paths in the law field. Paralegals can work in all types of organizations, but most work for law firms, corporate legal departments, nonprofits and government agencies.
An information session on the program will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 14 in the Scot Room and at the same time May 4, May 20 and June 17 in Room B166-167.
General registration for fall classes begins April 27.
